C’est une première ! Un Géolien, Jean-Jacques Biteau (Promo 1977) est candidat à la Présidence de l’E.A.G.E. (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers). L’élection aura lieu début avril. Jean-Jacques a le soutien de la communauté Géolienne pour sa candidature qui constitue une fierté pour l’Ecole et ses Ingénieurs. ***************** Jean-Jacques Biteau graduated in 1977 from Ecole de Géologie de Nancy ((ENSG) Nancy Geology School). After serving as hydrogeologist in Algeria for 1.5 year (national cooperation service in place of military service) for Algerian Government, he joined the Elf Aquitaine Group (now Total) in April 1979. He has worked in a large variety of positions in headquarters (New Business Chief Geologist and Petroleum System Advisor) and affiliates abroad: Netherlands as Junior Subsurface Geologist, Cameroon as Senior Regional Interpretation Project Leader, Angola as Exploration and then Asset Manager or in France near Toulouse as South-West of France Exploration Manager. His last and current position is Vice president Coordination & Portfolio Management. So he has been deeply involved since 6 years into efforts for rejuvenating the Total’s exploration portfolio. He has been served in numerous AAPG and EAGE Committees (he is currently member of the EAGE TPC) as well as in the CASP (Cambridge Arctic Shelf Program) consortium advisory board based in Cambridge (UK). He is currently Professor at ENSG School and IFP School and also teaches as Head Lecturer in Total internal classes covering “Pressures, seals and traps” (5 sessions per year including field trips near Montpellier, south of France). He will retire in April 2016 and will continue to serve internally and externally as Total Teacher. He is volunteering to help as best as possible in the EAGE organization and to give back to young professionals the experience he has gained during almost 40 years on several Petroleum provinces in Africa, Americas, Europe and Asia.
